If you needed yet another reason to be taking an omega-3 supplement (fish oil, krill oil, algae oil, etc.), the Australian Blue Mountains Eye Study and Hearing Study analyzed 2,956 participants who were 50 years old and up for the effect that eating fish had on their rate of hearing loss.
The researchers measured presbycusis, the pure-tone average of certain decibels of hearing loss, and found that those who ate two servings of fish per week experienced 42 percent less hearing loss than those who ate only one serving.
Their conclusion: Dietary intervention with omega-3 fatty acids could prevent or delay the development of age-relatedhearing loss.
